My bud Kris Krug let me know earlier in the week that he and Robert Scales of Raincity had struck and confirmed a deal for Raincity Studios to acquire Bryght for a cash-stock deal.
I’ve known the folks at Bryght for years now. I was one of the original testers of their hosted Drupal system (which was rather cool, even two years ago…better I’d assume now). Raincity? I knew Will Pate when he started there (moving from PEI to Vangroovy no less), but looking at their client roster of folks like AskaNinja and Sony (they did Ozzy and Kelly Clarkson’s sites) you know they have the chops.
In the new company Robert Scales will be CEO and run the new Shanghai office (my coverage here) while Kris will be President and run the Vancouver office. Raincity is going to move into Bryght’s swanky offices in Gastown (I’ve been there…it’s cool and I like to hang there when I’m in town).
This is, imho, another example of how Vancouver-base tech companies are leading the world in terms of innovation.
Congrats to both Raincity and Bryght. I know this is going to do amazing things for all of us.

Correction: Roland let me know that Raincity has been sharing the offices with Bryght since October. I also forgot this great quote from Roland that he gave me:
"I am glad I can finally announce that Raincity Studios has acquired Bryght. Needless to say I am stoked and already enjoying working with my new colleagues. Working with Bryght has been great, the best job of my life and I am sure it will be the same at Raincity."
